Dental Treatment in Vietnam for Adelaide Patients

An honest guide for Adelaide patients on dental treatment in Vietnam: one-stop flights via SIN/KUL/BKK, branch options, prices, savings and aftercare back home.

Adelaide (ADL) has no direct flights to Vietnam, so you'll fly one-stop via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok in roughly 12 to 15 hours including the layover, or connect through Melbourne or Sydney for a direct Ho Chi Minh City leg. Treatment at our Picasso branches typically costs about 60 to 80% less than an Adelaide private dentist, even after flights and a few nights' accommodation.

Flying from Adelaide to Vietnam

Let’s be upfront: there are no direct flights from Adelaide to Vietnam. Every option involves at least one stop.

The cleanest routes go one-stop through a regional hub. Here’s what to expect.

FromViaIntoApprox. total time
Adelaide (ADL)Singapore (SIN)Ho Chi Minh City / Da Nang~12–15h with layover
Adelaide (ADL)Kuala Lumpur (KUL)Ho Chi Minh City / Da Nang~12–15h with layover
Adelaide (ADL)Bangkok (BKK)Ho Chi Minh City / Hanoi~12–15h with layover
Adelaide (ADL)Melbourne / SydneyHo Chi Minh City (direct leg)varies by connection

The Singapore and Kuala Lumpur routings are handy because they also connect onward to Da Nang. If you’d prefer a direct international leg into Vietnam, connect through Melbourne or Sydney first and pick up a non-stop flight to Ho Chi Minh City from there.

The time difference is small. Adelaide runs on ACST (UTC+9:30) and Vietnam is UTC+7, so you’re only winding your watch back 2.5 hours. Jet lag is rarely a real problem on this trip.

Which Picasso branch suits Adelaide patients

We have three branches: Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), Hanoi (HAN) and Da Nang (DAD). For Adelaide patients we generally suggest one of two.

Da Nang is our pick if you want recovery to feel like a holiday. It’s a beach city next to Hoi An, and it’s reached via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, or by flying into Ho Chi Minh City and taking a one-hour domestic hop. It’s a good fit when you’ve got a few days to heal and would rather do it by the water.

Ho Chi Minh City suits you if you’d rather keep connections simple and stay in the thick of the city. It’s the most straightforward single-connection arrival point from Adelaide.

If you’re having implants or All-on-4, it’s worth knowing that Dr Tran Thanh Phong leads our implant and All-on-4 work in Hanoi. For complex full-arch cases some patients choose Hanoi specifically for that reason, though it does mean a longer trip up north.

What you’ll save vs an Adelaide private dentist

This is usually the deciding factor. Prices below are in AUD.

ProcedurePicasso (Vietnam)Adelaide private
Veneer5101,500–2,500
Single implant1,410–2,5405,000–8,000
All-on-4from 7,060/arch23,000–30,000
Teeth whitening340

That works out to roughly 60 to 80% less. On a single veneer the gap is modest once you add airfares, but on implants and especially All-on-4 the savings are large enough to cover flights and accommodation several times over.

One honest caveat: build your flights and a few nights’ stay into the maths before you decide. For a single small procedure the trip may not pay for itself. For anything involving implants or multiple units, it almost always does.

Aftercare when you’re back in Adelaide

Good dental tourism doesn’t end at the airport. Plan your aftercare before you fly.

Routine reviews and any follow-up should be done by your regular AHPRA-registered Adelaide dentist. We make that handover easy: Picasso supplies your full clinical records, x-rays and an implant passport so your local dentist can see exactly what was done.

Keep in mind Medicare and private health funds don’t cover overseas elective dental, so any local follow-up is also self-funded. If anything urgent happens while you’re still in Vietnam, the local emergency number is 000 back home, but in-country our clinics handle post-treatment issues directly.

Planning your trip

A few practical points. Australian passport holders can apply for Vietnam’s 90-day e-visa online before departure, which gives you plenty of room for treatment plus recovery and a holiday.

Give yourself enough days on the ground. Simple work can be done in a single short visit; implants and All-on-4 may need either two trips or a longer single stay to allow healing between stages. We’ll map the exact timeline to your case once we’ve seen your situation.

The simplest next step is to send us your details for a free quote. We’ll tell you honestly whether the trip is worth it for your case, which branch to choose, and how many days to set aside before you book a single flight.
